Eagles Grapevine Ltd July 2008

Women have more sense!

Women are the winners two-thirds of the time at a unique wine-tasting game which allows novices to take on the experts.

Ask Eagles is the first wine tasting game to include a system of handicaps. Even players who can't tell a Premier Cru from a plonk have an equal chance of winning.

"Ask Eagles is a genuinely fun game which nobody need find intimidating," said Rob Price, founder of Eagles Grapevine. "Players can challenge the wine expert and win - especially, it seems, if they're female. It's well-known that women have a better sense of taste and smell than men, and our research really seems to bear that out."

Ask Eagles starts with a small quiz to check how much players know about wine, and awards a handicap. Less knowledgeable players are then given clues to level the playing field. After tasting the wines and guessing if it is new or old world, the grape and country, they can gamble or bluff, depending on their confidence.

The game comes with an easy-to-use wine guide, and can be purchased with or without wine. Players can provide their own, or buy bottles specially chosen for the game online. The company specialises in award-winning wines only, with a choice of Gold Medal wines, Decanter 5* wines and wines that have 90-plus Parker points. The wines can also be bought individually, and come with full tasting notes and a free wine guide, making them a perfect gift.

Ask Eagles was developed by husband and wife Catherine and Rob Price, who both have a long time passion for wine. Rob also manages Birmingham Wine School and runs regular wine courses in Birmingham.

Games (including wine!) are available for review - just call Rob or Catherine.
