Drinks, The Fine Wine Beer and Spirits Show is set to cause a stir at the BBC Good Food Show Scotland

Whether you like yours shaken or stirred, tall or short, dry or sweet, straight or on the rocks, there will be something new for you to try at Drinks, the Fine Wine, Beer and Spirits Show taking place at the BBC Good Food Show Scotland.  The doors at the SECC will open at 9 am on 31 October to an impressive and exciting line-up of food, drink and entertainment.  Not only will there be inspiring live demonstrations from top celebrity chefs including Gordon Ramsay, James Martin and Nick Nairn but there will also be a mouthwatering selection of drinks exhibitors with something to please the palate of every visitor.

Scotland’s own rich drinks heritage will be well reflected with one of the oldest style of ales still produced in the world, “Fraoch” Heather Ale featuring at the show.  Brewed from an ancient Gaelic recipe in Alloa, this light amber ale is made using fresh heather flowers and is a great accompaniment to rich and spicy foods.  Heather Ale will be joined at the show by new, edgy ales and beers from BrewDog.  Their unique and individual beers are all preservative and additive free and range from Hop Rocker, a statuesque lager to Paradox, a whisky cask aged imperial stout.

Spirits will also feature strongly at the show with a diverse range for visitors to choose from to enjoy on their own or as part of a cocktail.  From the clean tasting and smooth Martin Millers Gin or the exciting juniper aroma of Gordon’s Gin to toffee and lime vodkas, the choice will be inspiring.  Don’t miss the fabulous Organic Rhubarb Vodka produced on a rhubarb farm in Inverness and sold by the specialist food and drink shop Demijohn.  With a magical fresh taste, it is delicious over ice or great for mixing with Champagne, sparkling wine or even tonic.  Also at the show will be the smooth Heather Cream Liqueur, a delicious marriage of two of Scotland’s finest natural products, fresh double cream and Balblair Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

If you are looking for wines to accompany a special meal or to enjoy while relaxing, there will be plenty of different varieties to try at the show.  Wines of Chile will be bringing a selection of the much acclaimed new wines being produced in Chilean Wineries while Marta’s Vinyard will be sampling some of their award winning wines from the estates of Argentina.  Provenance Wines will have a selection of great quality, traditionally made chateaux wines from small independent French wine makers or why not try some of the Burgundy and Beaujolais varieties on offer from Vicomte Bernard de Romanet?

And for those who prefer their Whisky, joint tickets are available to the BBC Good Food Show Scotland and Whisky Live which is also taking place at the SECC.  Whisky Live Glasgow is Scotland’s whisky tasting event of the year, bringing all the very best whiskies of the world to one event. With expert advice on hand and the opportunity to learn about the whisky basics, this will be the ultimate whisky experience for the enthusiast and novice alike.
